Christmas Memories

I've been working on scrapping older pictures again. I came across this set from Christmas of 09. They worked perfectly for the 2 page December sketch from Sketch Support.

Then I added a few paper piecings from Little Scraps of Heaven Designs. Country Christmas and Peeking Santa.

Combined the two and came up with this layout.

Here's a close up of the Title and the Piecings. I should mention the title is from Designs on Cloud 9.

So far 2012 has been a productive Scrapping year. Please God let it continue. :)

Detroit Zoo Day

As a small child my son LOVED the Zoo. He could never get enough of watching the snow monkeys play or roaring at the lions. I found these Old pictures the other day and thought they'd work perfect for one of the challenges over at Scrap Sisters Studio. Our October Memorial Crop is going strong. In Memory of our Friends Leslie and Chris, did you- "Feel your Boobies today"?

Our challenge was to use a sketch from Sketch Support, specifically Sketch #8. Our friend Chris used it and made this layout:

As you can see I changed things up a bit. Where the journaling was on the original I put the cute little snake on the branch. He's from Little scraps of Heaven Designs. I tucked the journaling in above the banners.

Here's a few close ups:

It feels so good to complete a challenge. It also feels good to scrap OLD photos. One more down. I entered this layout over at Scrapbookers Anonymous. The October Challenge was to use die cuts. I think this qualifies.

I hope your feeling crafty today. I am! Lets see what else I can create this weekend.

Civil War Remembrance

So on Memorial Day we chose to attend Civil War Remembrance Days at Greenfield Village and honor those that gave their lives to uphold their beliefs. It doesn't matter which side you chose, they were all Americans. Plus we have a HUGE Civil War buff in our house so we kinda had to go. It was pretty cool and in the end he got to speak with the guys in the Re-enactment group he wants to join. He was one happy kid all day long. Here are just a few of the photos I took that day in a one page layout.

We watched several of the reenactments and spoke with many of the re-enactors. Seriously my child proclaimed at the end of a long (7 hrs) hot (90 degrees) day that we were the best parents ever. We said "see we do do what you want to do, sometimes."

The little Union soldier bear is from Little Scraps of Heaven Designs- Civil War Bear.  I started with a sketch from Sketch Support and add to it some Basic Gray paper. It had the right vintage look. Here's a close up of the bear and title:

This was  a quick fun layout to create. Happy Crafting!!

Stripes and Polka dots!

The current Little Scraps of Heaven Designs DT Challenge is to use Strips and Polka Dots on a project. Here is my take on this challenge~

We get lucky and on our yearly visit to the Gulf Coast we can sometimes catch the Blue Angels when they are practicing in Pensacola. There is no cost to go in and the Museum there is free as well. After you watch the air show the pilots come in and sign autographs. The kids LOVE this. It's a wonderful morning and they actually learn something too. Amazing.

For this layout I used the "Just Plane Cute" set. Here are close ups of all the pieces:

I used a sketch from Sketch Support to jump start the creative process. This is what the sketch looked like:

Here's a closer shot of each page:

I love how the banner turned out. It really helps set the layout apart. The twine holding the pennants is from the Twinery. I love it!! I recently bought their sampler pack. It's fast becoming a favorite. I used liquid mono adhesive to hold it in place.

Again my journaling is missing but you can see where it will go. I really have to get the printer going next week so I can journal all these layouts that are missing journaling.

LSHD posted a new Sketch Challenge on Facebook last night. The challenge runs till May 26th. You can find the details by checking out the LSHD Facebook page.
