More Sketch Challenges!

This one came from Stuck on U Sketches and then I modified it for our Title/Font challenge over at Scrap Sisters Studio. So 2 challenges in one.

And here's my take on it. I chose to use small 2x2 photos instead of pattern paper for the left side of y layout. That way I could create a 1 pg layout yet include some great shots for our trip down to the ball park. My printer, a Lexmark, came with the option to print an album page. They give us many options to choose from. I chose to load 8 medium photos, they printed 2x3 and one 5x7 with two 4x6's. I printed 2 sheets and was done.

I had a really fun piece of baseball word paper that I used a strip of for the right border. I punched a 1 3/4" circle for my title and cut 09 with the Cricut. The border on the circle is actually 3 stars punched with my handy old Creative Memories star punch. I then detailed the stars with a white pen.

Once I cut my photos down to 2x2 I spaced them out on the mat. I try never to have a photo looking off the page. So you'll notice that all the far left photos either look right or straight ahead. If the person is looking off I'm left wondering what the heck are they looking for. It's a design trick I read somewhere and it makes sense to my eyes. So I do it. As some finishing touches I used the gel pen on a couple more stars and pop dotted them onto the layout so I had a visual triangle with the stars and the title.

I had to shift my title to the right because I didn't want it to cover up any of my little photos. This layout has become a good example of packing a lot of photos in a one page layout. There are 11, did ya count them?

Sketch Challenges galore

Hello everyone! Today was the BIG Snow storm of 2010. Ohhh look out. We received about 9" of the fluffy white stuff. Enough to give us a snow day and in my house that means everyone is home. Both my husband and our Niece that lives with us teach so they were jumping for joy with the news. And then my boss called and said I didn't need to come in either. Yipee! A free day.

I've decided to start doing some sketch challenges in an attempt to scrap my own photos and get some personal pages done in 2010. The wonderful girls on my message board post 6 different challenges twice a month. If your needing some inspiration come join us. Scrap Sisters Studios is a wonderful group of crafters. Here is the Feb 1st Sketch challenge. It is a sketch from PageMaps.

Here is my take on it. I chose pictures of my "Jacob Black Obsessed" Niece as my theme and ended up with this wolf inspired page. The pattern paper is from Close to My Heart. Something I had in my stash from yrs ago.

I found a wonderful paper piecing pattern for my wolf over at Precious Piecings.
I added some marker detail and Smooch to trick him out.

I capped my layout off with a flourish I had in my stash that I painted with brown Smooch. It has a really nice shimmer to it. The whole layout, including printing the pictures took me about an hour. I used my Cricut to cut the circles and title.

Life is good when a layout comes together quickly. Thought I'd blog this one real quick and maybe after dinner I'll make another.

Happy Crafting!

I have NOT forgotten

about my blog! ha ha Things have gotten so busy I just haven't had time. So today I'll just post a few quick photos. And then I hope to come back tomorrow and do a longer post.

I've been playing with the Cricut Sweethearts cartridge. Wonderful images on this one. I personally like the anniversary images. This scalloped heart will for sure be a favorite.
