Furry friends...

We love our Furry Friend but with all this crazy weather I'm about ready to kill him. So to remember why I love him so much I created this layout. This is the day we brought him home.

I used a past freebie from Little Scraps of Heaven Designs: Peeking Puppy. He was perfect for this project. I also used a sketch from Sketch Support. It's one page Sketch #9. I like to start with a sketch an then make it my own.

With this sketch I added a photo and a paper piecing. Sometimes just a little tweaking makes it work perfectly. Here's a couple close ups of the title and piecing.

Happy Crafting everyone! I'm hoping there is an end in sight to all these spring storms.

Quirky Kid!

There is a sketch challenge over at Little Scraps of Heaven this week and it's to use this sketch #15. You can make a layout based on this sketch and enter it over on the LSHD Facebook page. You must use a LSHD paper piecing.

This is my take on it:

I believe in being yourself at all costs. My Niece does too. She definitely has a style all her own.

I used the Rock on Girls- Singer and a font called Good Dog. I love this kid!! She shines and brings light and happiness to those around her. I hope you have someone in your life like this kid. It's definitely the "Quirks" that make her special.

A couple close ups:

Happy Thursday!

Explore!

Last summer I had the pleasure of taking my son and 3 of his cousins out to Montana to visit their Grandparents. On the way home we got to spend a couple days in Yellowstone. I just love that place. At one stop along the road the boys found a spot where the river had some fallen logs crossing it. So naturally they had to try their luck at walking across the logs. It produced an interesting collection of pictures and a wonderful memory.

I used a newer pattern set titled "The Great Outdoors" for all the paper piecing patterns on this page. Little Scraps of Heaven Designs has come out with really fun new patterns recently. I really like all her bears but this Moose is becoming a fast favorite.

Here is a closer look at page 1:

And page 2:

And a couple close ups of the title and the Mooses!

I used lots of "pop dots" on these guys. The added dimension really paid off. And lots of inking. I forgot to grab the white pen but I will go back and add some pen work to the fine details.

Happy Crafting Everyone!!

Stripes and Polka dots!

The current Little Scraps of Heaven Designs DT Challenge is to use Strips and Polka Dots on a project. Here is my take on this challenge~

We get lucky and on our yearly visit to the Gulf Coast we can sometimes catch the Blue Angels when they are practicing in Pensacola. There is no cost to go in and the Museum there is free as well. After you watch the air show the pilots come in and sign autographs. The kids LOVE this. It's a wonderful morning and they actually learn something too. Amazing.

For this layout I used the "Just Plane Cute" set. Here are close ups of all the pieces:

I used a sketch from Sketch Support to jump start the creative process. This is what the sketch looked like:

Here's a closer shot of each page:

I love how the banner turned out. It really helps set the layout apart. The twine holding the pennants is from the Twinery. I love it!! I recently bought their sampler pack. It's fast becoming a favorite. I used liquid mono adhesive to hold it in place.

Again my journaling is missing but you can see where it will go. I really have to get the printer going next week so I can journal all these layouts that are missing journaling.

LSHD posted a new Sketch Challenge on Facebook last night. The challenge runs till May 26th. You can find the details by checking out the LSHD Facebook page.

Wipe Out!!

A quick layout today. While we were in Alabama this spring we were out on the bike trails in Gulf State Park and my poor Cousin Mikie wiped out!. LOL She thought she'd be all cool and stop herself with this tree while the boys looked for gators in the lake, instead she ended up looking like this.

The best part was my sister and I were laughing so hard and pulled our cameras out so quick, we didn't even make sure she was OK. She was! This little exercise in her biking skills was fair game for the rest of our 7 day trip. Of course she did it on day 1.

I used the "In my Community- Hospital" set from Little Scraps of Heaven Designs.

I used the ambulance and if you look closely at my cousins shirt you'll see see a fire fighter logo. She is in-charge of the ambulance service in the town she lives in. So she is an EMT and drives the ambulance almost daily. So the layout would not be complete without an EMT.

Fortunately we did not need one as part of this adventure. I saved a space for my journaling and when I finally get the printer working again all I have to do is print it out and stick it on.

Happy Crafting Everyone!

A Monday card.

I recently had the pleasure of working Jenni Bowlin's booth at the Great Lakes Mega Meet. I can't begin to tell you how nice Jenni and her Husband Jared were. It was a wonderful day spent making some new friends. So I couldn't work all day and not shop. I bought some wonderful things that you'll be seeing in projects really soon. Like today. I made this cute card with Jenni's paper mini's.It's a whole collection of her paper but in 4x4 size. And of course there is a Little Scraps of Heaven paper piecing on it.

This is Jenni's blog and you can reach her on line store from there. Go take a minute and check her out. The bear with the sunglasses is from the "You are my Sunshine" title.

Happy Monday!

Ahoy!!

It's a pirates life for me today. A Friday Design Team project from Little Scraps of Heaven. We always visit Souvenir City in Gulf Shores Alabama and this year we had 2 newbies. The whole backside of the store is decked out in a Pirate's ship complete with cannons. Photo shoot time!

I used the "A Pirate's Life" collection to make all my embellishments. This page came together pretty quick. The Pattern papers are all Basic Gray but three different lines. They work very well together. The pages are 8 1/2 x 11 because they are for my 2011 album.

Here's a couple close up:

Opps- I forgot to crop them. Well I'm in Northern Michigan this weekend and the MiFi is very slow uploading pics, so they will have to do for now.

You can find the DT challenge on the FB fan page here. Have a wonderful weekend!

My BIG announcement!!

I'd like to thank the wonderful ladies at Little Scraps of Heaven Designs for the warm welcome to their newest Design Team member: ME! Yep I took the plunge and applied when they had a call this week and they snatched me right up. I'm very honored to be included into their group. What a wonderfully talented group they are. The Design Team is asked to post 3 projects a week, Monday, Wednesday and on Fridays a DT challenge project. So here is my first DT project. I was a bit slow posting it today but I got one in, even though I can't breath and I'm coughing like a crazy woman.

This is my first layout of 2011 pictures. I've chosen to do all this years layouts in 8 1/2 x 11. Trying to change things up a bit. These photos are of my Niece Kaiti when we were on Spring Break down in Gulf Shores Alabama. I will add some journaling strips under the title when I get the printer up and running again.

Here's a couple close ups:

The title pattern is called "You are my Sunshine".Such a cute little bear. Be sure to visit LSHD on Facebook and "Like" us!

I'm hoping that by becoming a Design Team member my blogging and scrapping will become even more regular. I'd love to know how you feel about today's project, so please leave a comment and tell me what you think.

Happy Crafting!!

All Things Potter Day 4!

I was a little slower posting today and I just know the suspense is killing you. So without further delay I bring you "Hermione Granger".

I just love her socks. We all know the girl is the smart one in the crowd. Those boys would have been lost without her. How about a quote from Hermione: "Just because you've got the emotional range of a teaspoon doesn't mean we all have."

Be sure to "like" Designs on Cloud 9 on Facebook. Michelle is looking to reach 1000 fans. I've been a fan since day 1 and I think you should be too. She's super creative.

Go be crafty and enjoy your day!

All Things Potter Day 3!

Lets get right to it! Today I bring you Ron!

He's a charmer with his Ginger hair. Now we all know it was Hermione that had the book smarts but in the patterns she's got the wand and Ron is holding her book. I love his cuffed pants. I also pop dotted the book so it leaned out away from his body. It gives the piecing depth.

You can find the patterns at Designs on Cloud 9, Wizard's World.

Happy Crafting everyone. I love to know what you think of my post, comments are welcome and encouraged.

All Things Potter Day 2!

Well I didn't know it but today is National Harry Potter Day. Over on Facebook they are celebrating the day Voldemort's downfall, May 2nd. So in honor of that I will be showcasing the man himself: Harry Potter! He even has the lighting bolt scar, it's under his hair so you can't see it. But trust me it's there.

Once again the patterns are from Designs on Cloud 9. The set is called Wizards World. You can head over to Facebook and like Michelle's site over there too. It's the easiest way to stay up with new happenings. Just tell her Cindy P. sent you. When she reaches a 1000 fans she's going to give away 3 great gift cards to her site and some free patterns to all her fans. Go check it out!!

Happy Crafting and here's to a Voldemort free world!

All Things Potter

Starting today and running all week I will be showing a new Harry Potter inspired paper piecing. The original set of patterns comes from Designs on Cloud 9. Michelle is a wonderful new designer and I love her work. She has a set called Wizards World and this is what it looks like:

The first piecing I'd like to share is Professor Dumbledore with a few accessories.

So far I've made all the pieces in the set and I've tweaked the designs a bit to add a few more characters. Check back tomorrow for the next installment of "All Things Potter".

Happy Crafting!
