Twelve

Twelve.
A Journey to Inspired Scrapbooking

So I signed up to take Stacy Julian's Twelve workshop over at Big Picture Classes. It sounds like such a cool class and I should get tons of layouts finished. So here is the blurp about the class:

Join our own Stacy Julian in January and together you'll kick off 2012 as a celebration of storytelling and scrapbooking. You will spend twelve weeks exploring topics that inspire meaningful stories and you will create lists, files and tools to organize your pictures, ideas and inspiration. You'll then use this organization as the wellspring for twelve layouts a month. Stacy will help you curate all that you've gathered and share creative exercises designed to keep you alert and noticing.
Together you'll wander playfully around the color wheel and use these twelve hues to challenge your inner designer and delight your inner critic. In addition to creating twelve layouts each month, you'll compile a 20-page, 12" x 12" scrapbook, appropriately titled, Twenty Twelve. This Photos I Love album will mark your monthly efforts and culminate a yearlong adventure in personal expression. Even after our classroom closes at the end of March, you'll continue to receive inspirational emails and bonus videos to help and encourage you in meeting your intentions and telling your story.
Stacy is a life-enthusiast and founder of online education at Big Picture Classes. She loves to engage in and teach the creative process of inspired scrapbooking, where awareness and authenticity spark pages and projects that truly satisfy. She is looking forward to twelve weeks, twelve topics, twelve colors and twelve months with YOU.

If you are interested you can still sign up! It's not too late. Click HERE.

Happy New Year!

Simple Layout Saturday!

Here is my layout for Saturday November 26th. Sorry I missed last week. I had a layout almost done and didn't take any pictures of it before I got busy with cleaning. The day slipped by I didn't realize I forgot to post. Duhhhh. So here is this weeks.

If you're seeing a theme here you're catching on pretty quick. I'm using my Simple Layout Saturdays to get a good start on my son's Civil War reenactment album. This one is about the Rapid Re-load contest at the Wolcott Mill event. It was very interesting to watch. They had to run thru the contest twice, first time to weed out half the crowd. The same guy won both times. He was quick!

Have a wonderful Saturday!

Bitten Smitten!

Twilight is all the rage these days. Me I loved the books but the movie was just so so. But that is neither here nor there. What I do know is that this is an adorable pattern set. Bitten Smitten by Little Scraps of Heaven Designs.

This was a fun set to play with and here's the layout I made.

Here are a few close ups of the piecings.

I based my layout on this 2 page sketch from Sketch Support.

The beauty of Sketches is they are a jumping off point. You do not have to follow them exactly. As you can see I didn't but the similarities are visible. Thank You Sketch Support. I will place some journaling under the photo on the right side of the layout.

Hope you've had a crafty day.

One Month!

Here is yet  another Baby Album page. We thought it would be fun to give her a page for each month. That way she could just use a random cute picture, taken sometime in the month, to document how the little one is changing. This is what I did for month 1.

She can easily add some journaling strips to record the story.

To make the cute little baby I used a pattern from Beary Sweet Designs. She has the cutest set called "Elfing Around". It's the Elf on the Shelf set!

I choose to use the little one hugging her knees and turn her into a baby girl. Sometimes you have to think outside the box. She is perfect for this layout.

I hope you all have a GREAT Friday night!

Sisters

Sisters are so important to those of us that are lucky enough to have them. When you become a BIG sister and your 4 it's pretty amazing. My girlfriend Becky will soon have 2 daughters. I'm sure there are many "Sister" layouts in her future. I thought this one would be a wonderful 1st "Big sister- Little sister" layout for her baby album.

I used the "Big Sister Little Sister" pattern set from Little Scrap of Heaven Designs for this one.

Here's a close up of the two pieces.

I can't wait to put the whole book together for Becky. She's going to love it. I have a few more left to show you . So stay tuned for more baby pages.

Have a wonderful Thursday!

Baby's 1st Thanksgiving

Here's another layout I did for my friends Baby album. Oh and I'm back over at Little Scraps of Heaven Designs on the Design Team. Thank You Tricia! I enjoyed my last run over there before my summer building frenzy in the Upper Peninsula got in the way. It's tough to be on a design team when you have NO internet. So this is also my first DT project.

This little baby turkey is just adorable. My friend can easily tuck a picture under the paper piecings on the photo mat and add a white journaling block above the turkey to finish the page.

Here is the original set over at LSHD it's called Baby's 1st Thanksgiving.

Here's a close up of my Turkey.

I hope you have a productive Monday.

Polar Love!

Today I'm going to show you the front page of a baby album I'm helping put together for a friend. I mention often a message-board I chat on, Scrap Sisters Studio, the girls over there are throwing a virtual baby shower for our friend Becky. I'm in-charge of putting together the baby's scrapbook. So we started a post and came up with a bunch of page ideas, then we divided them up with everyone picking a couple pages to make. I made the front cover:

The paper piecings are from My Scrap Chick. This is the original pattern set:

I took the little bear peeking out from behind the arm of the couch and turned her into the baby. Wrapped her up in a blanket and placed her on mommy's lap. I eliminated the bears holding the picture frame as my 8x8 page size didn't allow for them. I also eliminated the bear popping up from behind the couch. The Drass Family has 4 members counting the new baby.

I'm very please with how it turned out. Stay tuned I will be posting some more of my Baby Book pages this week. I still have a few more to make.

Have a wonderful Sunday afternoon.

Saturday's Simple Layout

Well today I thought I'd try something new. A quick Simple layout every Saturday. This one took less then an hour start to finish. My layout once again came from Cathy Zielske. She's so inspirational. They are having a sale over at Designer Digitals, if you want to try out some of Cathy's templates you can head over there. But hurry up, it's a one day only sale. Ends Saturday night at midnight.

My layout.

I want to have a whole album for the kid on his Civil War reenactments. So this is the beginning. I'll document the Unit- 15th Michigan and the reenactments they participate in. Here's a shot of the title.

And my journaling. This page is all about being one of the  Boy's in Blue. He's very proud of his uniform.

Saturday Simple Layouts my become a regular item on my blog. It sounds easy enough to do. Next Saturday I'm attending a crop so I'll make the layout on Friday.

Have a Crafty weekend everyone!

Insta LOVE

I'm still working on some of the Chrispea Memorial Crop challenges over at Scrap Sisters Studio. This one was called "Internet Layout Challenge". Our Friend Chris was  a lover of the Internet as many of us our. So the challenge was to scrap your favorite places you visit on the internet.

I chose to base my layout on a Cathy Zielske Freebie. You can find Cathy's freebie download here.  I do not currently have PSE loaded on my computer so I had to do it the old fashion way, by hand. I opened a word document and placed the title and journaling. Then printed it out on copy paper to make sure the placement was good. Trimmed the photos and placed them there. When I realized the placement was perfect on the first try I reprinted on good Bazzill CS orange peel and placed the photos. I hand drew the lines and dots.

Here's are close ups of my title and my journaling:

Happy Halloween Everyone!

Love the Fall colors in Michigan

We have been spending some time touring parts of Michigan we don't usually visit. My Son has gotten into Civil War reenacting, which means we are spending some time in new territory. In early October we visited Wolcott Mill Metro Park. Beautiful place! So wish I lived closer. I snapped some great pictures of the fall colors. This layout was created for a Challenge over at Scrap Sisters Studio. We are still going strong with our Chrispea Memorial Crop. Here is the layout I created for the Fall Challenge.

I found a sketch in Scrapbook Generations Sketches #7 book. So happy I bought it. Here's a closer look at the title.

I added a couple acorns for accents. They were found in the shapes menu of my SCAL 2 program. Pretty handy thing to have a shapes menu. Yes that is a picture of me or should I say my shadow.

Happy Fall everyone!

LSHD Halloween Party Blog Hop

Hello, Welcome to the Halloween Party Blog Hop
We are so glad that you have decided to hop along with us.Throughout our hop we hope to inspire you with lots of ideas for hostingyour own Halloween Party. There will be some great blog candy along the way as well as a GRAND PRIZE GIVEAWAY of $100.00 in cash (which is a big chunk of change to buy goodies for a Halloween Party)

If you just happened upon my blog and would like to start at the beginning please hop on over to LEANN'S BLOG.
If you have been following the blog hop and have hopped over from Angie's BLOGthen you are right where you need to be.

I choose to make a Party banner. I used multiple pattern sets. Beginning with the banner collection.  I also used "Brewing up trouble" for the Witch, cauldron, and the black cat. The "Boo title" makes the Ghost and the Boo! The little Mummy is from the "Ghoulishly Cute" collection. The pumpkins are from the "pumpkin tag pattern".

Here are some close ups of the individual pieces.

I always stress it's the little details that make your pieces come to life and these are no exceptions to this rule. Each piece has been inked around the edges and either White pen or Black pen marks add the fine details. The little witch was given some rosey cheeks with a touch of chalk.

I so enjoyed making this "Party Banner". I'll hate to have to pack it away after Halloween.
