Fabric Frenzy

Well I spent a couple days sewing with my Mom and Sister. We made 10 pair of fleece lounge pants and 9 Grab bag purses. Then I guess you can also throw in the 5 pairs of mittens my Niece Kaiti made and the curtains my Mom and Sister made. Yep it was a productive couple of days. Anyone need a bag?

See the post below for the link to the bag pattern.

EDITED: I thought I had posted the link to the site with this pattern but alas I didn't. So I will right now. It's from All People Quilt.com and the pattern is in their free bag patterns. It's called a Grab Bag.  Sorry for any confusion.

BLACK Friday!

Well we did it again. Got up early and went shopping. We didn't get moving as early as we have in the past but we still got all the deals we were looking for. Hit up Wallymart and got a $20 HP printer, a $39 500GB external hard drive, and 3 $10 micro fleece Michigan pull overs. Then off the Jo Ann's,Kmart, BK for bite to eat, JC Penny's and Meijers. And what do we do when we get home? How about this?

Tomorrow is the telling day. Can we finish all our projects before we have to go home? More details to follow.

Flat Stanley tours Detroit!

A friend off the Cricut message board asked for help with a Flat Stanley project for some 1st graders in Texas. There are some wonderful women on that board, she got over 75 volunteers. One from every state plus a few spares. So every child in 3 class rooms got to send a Stanley to someone. I took mine on a tour of Detroit today. A special thanks to my friend Kelly who went along for the ride today. First stop the Ambassador Bridge:

Funny story at the bridge. You use to be able to cruise by and then get back on the highway before the toll booth. NOT any more. We had to go the the booth and ask what to do. My friend did not have a passport on her to go to Canada. Thankfully this happens on a regular basis and they directed us to a "special" gate so we could get out. Great start to our adventure.

Next drive by: Hart Plaza.

And Cobo Hall.

Joe Louis Arena- home of the Red Wings Hockey club.

The Renaissance Center.

The Spirit of Detroit. He occasionally wears a special "team" jersey. When a Detroit team wins a big game.

The boys in Blue. Keeping our Downtown streets safe.

 A bus stop.

The Eastern Wig and Hair company. We thought this was a very interesting store front.

Comerica Park- home of the Detroit Tigers baseball franchise.

The Fox theater- historic theater in downtown Detroit.

The Hockey Town Cafe- great place to eat before or after aTigers game or Hockey game.

Ford Field- home of the Detroit Lions. I'm not a fan but many people are- "Bless their hearts".

Stanley meets the Tiger outside the main entrance to Comerica. He almost got eaten we had to save him.

Back at home Stanley meets a praying mantis by my backdoor.

We had a ball driving around downtown. It doesn't happen very often and usually our husbands drive. We got turned around a few times but that just added to the fun. Stanley has visited a few other places while he was here. I'm making a little book to commemorate his visit and will be sending it back to Texas the beginning of next week. So glad I could help out.

Mini cards

I recently bought the "Pumpkin Carving" Cricut cartridge. It's so cool. Then the other day I was browsing in Archiver's and they had a display of Mini cards with envelopes. So cute I just had to buy the envelopes. I wanted to make some Mini cards to go with some Halloween gifts I'm giving. I wanted them to be fast and simple. I opened my Design Studio program and resized a few images to fit a 3x3 card front.

See quick and simple. These took me a total of about 15 minutes to make. I honestly think it took longer to load the DS program then it did to pick and size the images. Now all I have to do is write a quick note inside them and they are ready to deliver.

Here's a peak at whats on the Pumpkin Carving cartridge.

I hope these cards have inspired you to get out your paper, trimmer and adhesive. Now go forth and be Creative!

Scrap Sisters Studio ATC's

OK I'm still slow that should be no big surprise to anyone that knows me . So here's the finished ATC I promised to share. The background paper is Basic Gray and the paper piecing is from Little Scraps of Heaven. To make the sign I printed off the "Scrap Sisters Studio" in a text box that was the size to fit the sign background. Works like magic every time. Lots of inking and white pen work on these little cuties. Thankfully I only had to make 10.

There were 5 of us that swapped ATC's at our get together. Here are the other girls cards.

ATC's are a fun way to play with new techniques and try different ideas out in a small format. There are many places to join swaps on the net. If your interested in checking out our message board you'll find us here at "Scrap Sisters Studio". When joining please put scrapbooking in the message. We'd love to have some new faces on our board.

I hope you've enjoyed my ATC's. Now go forth and create!

Just a reminder this set is available thru Little Scraps of Heaven and can be cut on your Cricut with the SCAL program.

The Land of OZ!

My Niece was Dorothy in the Wizard of OZ this spring so as soon as I saw this pattern set from "Little Scraps of Heaven Designs" I knew I had to have it.

I've made a couple of the patterns and just love them. My youngest Niece saw the play and now she is being Dorothy for Halloween. She was my helper for building the pieces.

I made them about 8 inches high. Addie wanted to hang them in her room and play with them. She also needed Dorothy to have some Bling on her shoes. Stickles take  forever to dry and she was so patient. Here's Dorothy!

Tricia Moore did a wonderful job creating these patterns and they cut with ease on my Cricut using SCAL 2. The Tin Man!

The Cowardly Lion.

Remember to add all the little touches when making paper piecings. The chalk on their cheeks and the black pen work on their faces. I makes a difference. I have the other 3 characters sized and ready to cut. I will post those as soon as they are done.

I hope you've been inspired. Go and Create!

Happy Anniversary!

It's been some time since I blogged but I thought I'd share a card I made today for my parents 51st Wedding Anniversary. Now I have a sense of humor and it shines through in this card.

The stamp I bought at the Great Lakes Mega Meet 2 years ago, it a "Stamps by Judith" stamp. she has wonderful stuff and I so look forward to lingering in her booth every year. I colored it with some Prisma colored pencils and Gamsol. Still learning this technique. I think I'm improving every time. The image shape was cut with the Nestability die labels Two.

I made it an easel card, so my Mom can display it. I think it has so much character. I hope they get a good chuckle out of it. My son certainly did when he came home from school today.

I hope you've enjoyed this card. Now go forth and be Creative!

Little Piggy's

Over Easter break we went to camp with my parents at the Elkhart County Fairgrounds, in Indiana. We were right in the heart of Amish country. Amazing that these folks live like that in today's world. but the real story here was the 4H Pig Auction. We had never been to one so it was a must for all of us. Our city slicker kids were just blown away. (We were too.) Here's my layout depicting the historical event.

(Please forgive the flash that's blurring out my sisters face, I had bad lighting this morning.)
The cute little piggy embellishment is cut with my Cricut using SCAL, the pattern is from Treasure Box Designs.
I made this LO for a summer challenge over at Scrap Sisters Studio, we have to make 10 LO's and an altered project. Nicole gave us a list of possible LO's, this one fits the homemade embellishments category, I made all the pg elements myself. I need to get moving on the rest of my LO's.

Puzzle Swap Fun

Lets swap a puzzle. Here's how it worked. We all sent $5 to one gal she bought the blank puzzles and numbered the backs of each and put directional arrows on each piece. Then she mixed up the puzzles,  each person received a piece from all 12 puzzles. She mailed them out along with a direction sheet. We  had to pick a theme and colors for our puzzle. They arrived in the mail and you had to make a piece for each person according to the rules set forth. Here is what I completed:

This was so much fun. The only hard part was you were working on a piece that was 2 1/2 by 3 1/2, tricky. I can't wait to get the finished pieces back and see how my puzzle will look. I'll post a picture when I get it.

Happy Scrappin'.

LOST Blogger alert!

It has been quite some time since I posted. So I thought I'd pass along a wonderful FREE workshop. I'm a fan of Big Picture Scrapbooking. I've taken a couple classes from them and loved every minute of it. They have a FUN FREE workshop coming up in August. So I thought I'd pass along the information.

If you've never been to their site go check them out. All you have to do is register (for free) and then choose this class from the class list. Register for it- for free and then wait till August 12th for the BIG kick off.

As for me, I've quit my job at my LSS and it's been wonderful (quitting that is). I've started to scrapbook for myself again. An amazing concept. I've gotten together with a couple friends recently at another store- Scrappy Chic Livonia. Wonderful store, can't say enough NICE things about them. I'll try to take some pictures of my recent work and post again soon.

Happy Scrappin'!

A little Disney in your life.

Well I recently bought "The Club House Gang" from Little Scraps of Heaven Designs. Couldn't wait to play with them and this was the first of many Disney inspired layouts. I also used the Disney Font cartridge from Cricut for the title and mouse head. The scroll border cand be found on the Mickey and Friends cartridge.

Here is a close up of the Mickey Bear. He's too cute for words. Remember to always do some inking and pen work to give your paper pieced images depth.

Have a great weekend. Go be creative.

WildLife

So here's the layout I made with the cute little animal friends. The pattern for these little buddies came from Treasure Box Designs.

The paper line I chose was Create Paper. I fell in love with the color scheme, what can I say. There was a lot of time spent in creating the little critters. Inking and pen work are a must to make them come alive. I had a blast creating for these little guys. The tree came to life with some Bazzill embossed cardstock and a little inking. Te creative use of pop dots is a must. The title was cut off the Animal Kingdom cartridge. The little dragonflies by the skunk are an old EK punch. See there is still a use for those old punches. I needed a little bit of the teal color over there to complete my visual triangle.

I hope you've enjoyed this edition of "WildLife". Go be creative today!
