Long day......

My really long day actually started yesterday. I worked at the store last night till midnight and then couldn't go to sleep last. So I think I might have gotten 4 hours and had to head right back in to open today. I got lucky and only had to stay till 2. But it's National Scrapbook Day and we had a 50% off coupon so we were swamped. And did I mention it was only Katie and I? Busy, busy, busy, no breaks today. We really could have used another body, but we made it. Then it was off to pick up Brendan and head to his first baseball game as a bronco level player. He got drafted by the Athletics and is playing for Coach Widmer. Game time 4:30, actual start time 5:20. Yep almost an hour behind schedule. Oh well.

B says "put me in Coach I'm ready to play!" He was a little nervous when we got in the car to go to the game. Worried about batting, fielding no problem. He knows if he can just get on base he's all set.

His first at bat and he walked.

Didn't spend much time at first and he was off to second with a stolen base.

He would go 0 for 1 today with 2 walks, 2 runs and 3 stolen bases. He also made two great plays while playing second base. The other team didn't hit the ball really well so our fielding was minimal but when B needed to make a play he can through with shinning colors.

"Here catch Mom, coach made me player of the game. I get the game ball."

Final score Athletics 12 - Mets 3.

6-2 Leafs

Yep that's my kid doing the goal dance. It would have been nice if he had scored the goal but he was just excited his team had scored the first goal of the game. Such a change from last spring. We were tied 1-1 at the end of the first. Kids were playing well despite being short 2 forwards. We spent most of the second period short handed. And yes that is my #93 in the box. He's sitting beside coaches kid, who went in first, we were short 5 on 3. Good thing we had worked on the penalty kill recently. We sure needed it.

We let them score one more on us before we took over and finished the game off at 6-2. Our goalie, nicknamed Keeper, made some great saves.

It was a good day to be a 97 Woodhaven Leaf.

Birthday Boy!

Well yesterday was my son Brendan's 11th Birthday. Where has the time gone. He had a pretty quiet birthday. I bought him his favorite lunch, subway 6" turkey on white with mayo. I can tell he's growing up, he's added cheese to his sandwich. Being the good Mom I am I took him chocolate chip cookies to school for a snack with his friends.

We took him to dinner, his choice, Red Robin of course. We've been going there for years now. He likes the birthday song they sing you. Goofy kid. We had lots of family join us, Mr & Mrs Phillips, Aunt Debbie, Uncle Dave, Kaiti, Derek, Aunt Teresa, Margaret, and Andrew. He made out with cards, cash and a gift card to Toys R Us. Which he promptly spent on the way home. We gave him his gift last week so he could use it on the road trip, a blue Ipod nano. Then when he got home Marybeth was there and she gave him a goody bag full of Pixie sticks and Wall-E. Not a bad day.

I love this picture of him. My friend Lindsay took it over the weekend, while he was skating in Fairview. I can't wait to scrap this one. He shares his special day with my Mom. When you have child #9 and there's 2 more on the way, you have to do it in a lasting way. She'll never forget his birthday. So Happy Birthday to Mom too.
